About the Forgiveness Program
The information provided below is from the U.S. Treasury and Small Business Administration regarding loan forgiveness. The following information is subject to change at any time based on direction from the U.S. Treasury and Small Business Administration.
To receive PPP loan forgiveness, a borrower must complete and submit the Loan Forgiveness Application (SBA Form 3508, 3508EZ, or Lender equivalent) to its Lender (or the Lender servicing its loan). A borrower may submit a Loan Forgiveness Application before the end of the 8-week or 24-week covered period, provided that the borrower has used all of the loan proceeds for which the borrower is requesting forgiveness and the borrower’s loan forgiveness application accounts for any salary reductions in excess of 25 percent for the full covered period.
January 21, 2021 Update
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the U.S. Treasury have issued updated loan forgiveness guidance and updated materials in relation to Round 1 of the Paycheck Protection Program.
Please note that with this updated guidance, borrowers still have to properly complete a Form 3508-S and attest to the accuracy and validity of the form, however borrowers of loans under $150,000 are now not required to submit any supporting documentation with forgiveness applications!
We still encourage you to keep all supporting documentation in the event of an SBA audit in the future.
